Car accident on Route 819 in Greensburg results in a fatality

On September 20, 2023, a car accident occurred on Route 819 in Greensburg, Pennsylvania between Saybrook Village and Forbes Trail Road. The City of Greensburg Police Department is in charge with the investigation. A detective investigating the accident found 57 stamp bags of suspected fentanyl and two syringes in the car involved in the accident. The driver that was driving the car with the suspected fentanyl died at the scene from blunt force trauma. The driver of the other vehicle involved, a pickup truck, was taken by medical helicopter to a local hospital.

Car accident and Personal injury cases can be complicated. An issue that our firm handles early in a case is how the facts of the case impact what options are available to recover monetary damages for our client’s injuries. In the above example, if the driver of the car was at fault, then the driver of the pickup truck would have to explore all possibilities to recover for their injuries. Is it a good idea to sue the other driver or their estate? Did the driver of the car had an auto insurance policy? Does the driver of the pickup’s auto insurance have an uninsured/underinsured motorist policy? Is it a limited tort policy? If the other driver was suspected of a DUI, can the driver of the pickup still collect damages if they elected the limited tort option? Is there an umbrella insurance policy available? Did either driver elect to stack insurance that may be available?  Was the driver of the car the owner of the vehicle? Could the owner of the car be liable? These are just a few issues that our personal injury team investigates.

At Bononi and Company, our car accident attorneys understand these complicated issues. We believe that it’s our personal injury team’s responsibility to review every possible option for our clients to recover monetary compensation when they are injured. There are incidents where a client can recover from multiple insurance policies.  If you don’t explore these options, then you may be missing out on compensation that is available to you.
