Two Vehicle Collision in Unity Township, PA

On July 11, 2022, just before 6:00 a.m. two medical helicopters responded to a two-vehicle collision on State Route 982 near Glengarry Golf Course in Unity Township. The responding fire departments were Pleasant Unity, Kecksburg, Trauger, and Youngstown. The Pennsylvania State Police are investigating the crash.  At this point, what is known is that four people were injured, with two of them declining treatment. The other two individuals were taken by medical helicopters to trauma centers in Pittsburgh.

One car accident may require multiple police departments, fire departments, Ambulances, medical helicopters, and hospitals. In an emergency, all of these moving parts work together to help save lives. Firefighters and law enforcement are trained in different ways to help in these situations. For instance, Firefighters are normally trained as EMTs and paramedics to treat injuries in emergencies. Also, they are often trained to help extract people from vehicles. Police Officers are typically trained to investigate the cause of the accident and make sure everyone is safe and taken care of.  Depending on whether available medical care is near by may the difference between needing an ambulance or a medical helicopter. If the accident requires a trauma center, a medical helicopter may be the only option to get someone seriously injured to the right place quickly.

After a major accident, it may be difficult to piece everything together. It is often helpful to speak with an attorney that handles car accident cases so that they can walk you through how to find out who responded to your accident and how to get records from police departments and fire departments.
