Police Officers are typically trained to investigate the cause of the accident and make sure everyone is safe and taken care of. Depending on whether available medical care is near by may the difference between needing an ambulance or a medical helicopter. If the accident requires a trauma center, a medical helicopter may be the only option to get someone seriously injured to the right place quickly.
