If you have a PFA Hearing and a Protection order is entered against you, there are standard terms that a judge will put into the PFA Order.
You will be ordered to not contact the victim, that includes having someone else contact them for you. You will be ordered to not harass the victim. You will be ordered to stay away from the victim, his or her home, and where he or she works. You will be placed in the statewide database in the Protection from Abuse System. And you will be ordered to relinquish your firearms.
If you violate any of those terms, an Indirect Criminal Contempt can be brought against you. This can result in you going to jail, paying a fine, or being placed on probation.
The worst phone call I get is from someone AFTER they have their final PFA hearing and a judge has already made a decision in their case.
If you have a PFA filed against you and you have any questions, call an attorney immediately so that your rights are protected.
