Everything PennDot does is overly complicated. When we look at the PA Point System for traffic tickets and violations, it’s not any different. One key number to remember is SIX, the accumulation of SIX or more points may result in a license suspension. I say may because if it’s your first accumulation of SIX points, then you can avoid the suspension by taking a written point examination. If you pass it within THIRTY days, TWO points will be removed from your driving record and you won’t lose your license.
Another number to remember is TWELVE. Every TWELVE consecutive months where you drive safely and do not get any points, PennDot will remove THREE points from your driving record.
If you receive a traffic ticket, an attorney can help defend you or to negotiate a plea where you can avoid adding any additional points to your driving record.
