There are cases that are resolved within 6 months and there are cases that can take 6 years.
Generally, the difference is if a case is complex, if there is a liability issue, and if there are significant damages, the case will tend to take longer.
Also, if a client is still in treatment, that will extend how long the case takes.
Part of treatment is making sure that you are on the path to recovery. I always advise my clients to pursue treatment and continue doing what the medical professionals ask you to do.
Some injuries manifest themselves later. I think of post concussion syndrome. It may take months before you realize the extent of damage.
I always remind my clients that the goal of a personal injury attorney is to make their clients whole again. Sometimes it takes time before everything comes together and you know what it will take to make them whole again.
How long does a personal injury case take? It depends. But no matter how long it takes, the goal is what is in my client’s best interest and how to make them whole again.
