How Do You Start The Divorce Process?

A divorce begins with the initial consultation with an attorney.  At that appointment, we go over what to expect, what costs are involved, what issues you have. 

When you are ready to move forward, then we prepare the divorce complaint and get it filed.  That then gets served on the other party.  Each case becomes a bit different after that, depending on what other issues are involved—for example, support hearings, mediation or negotiation, etc. 

Eventually, the goal is to resolve all of the related issues and obtain a divorce decree.
